Stabilization - Trauma Integrated Care - Assessments - Resources - Services

S.T.A.R.S. will have professionals that will work collaboratively to assess a child in the following areas:

  • Medical/pediatrics

  • Developmental

  • Educational

  • Psychiatric/psychological

  • Neuropsychology

  • Speech and Language/Hearing

  • Family/cargiver

  • Family History

  • History (previous assessments)

  • Consultation with Elders, and various cultural leaders as needed.

  • In-Home visits as much as possible.

Every member of the child’s support network will play a key role in the child’s future.

  • Collaborating with communities is essential. This program is geared towards empowering communities to create a better future for children.

  • S.T.A.R.S. will help communities develop their own resources and expertise. It is a partnership for the well-being of children.

  • S.T.A.R.S. will provide follow- up to the caregivers and resources. This is essential to ensure the child continues on the path of healing.

  • S.T.A.R.S. will provide Short Term (90 days) for children 8 years and under.

  • Capacity: 8 children above the age of 4 and 4 children 4 and under (including babies)

Referrals for S.T.A.R.S. will include the following but not limited to:

  • Defiant behavior

  • Aggressive towards self, others and property

  • Depression – lethargic

  • Failure to thrive

  • Sleep disturbance

  • Suicidal ideation

  • Sexual inappropriate behavior

  • Has experienced exposure to family violence, physical abuse, sexual abuse, malnutrition, emotional abuse,

  • Exposed to parental dysfunction (drug use, alcohol use etc.)

  • Speech difficulties

  • Developmental delay

  • Socially disconnected
