Our vision is to create a future where young children who have experienced maltreatment and trauma are understood early, supported effectively and given every opportunity to heal, develop and thrive.
Our Mission
To be a child-centered Centre of Excellence providing specialized stabilization, comprehensive assessment, trauma-integrated treatment, family and caregiver support, and outreach services for young children who have experienced maltreatment and complex early-life trauma.
Together, we gather “practice wisdom” from support services and their approaches to working with children.
It is a privilege to help children heal.

Prevention and early intervention are crucial for many children, offering hope, the chance to dream, a sense of love and belonging, and confidence in life.
What Does S.T.A.R.S. Stand For?
S — Stabilization
Creating physical, emotional and relational safety so the child can begin to regulate, trust and heal.
T — Trauma-Integrated Care
Understanding the impact that maltreatment, disrupted attachment and chronic stress can have on the developing brain, body, behaviour and relationships.
A — Assessment
Looking beyond behaviour through comprehensive, multidisciplinary assessment of the child's developmental, emotional, relational, physical and functional needs.
R — Resources & Reflective Parenting
Strengthening the adults surrounding the child by providing caregivers, families and care teams with practical knowledge, strategies and support.
S — Services, Outreach & Follow-Up
Supporting the child beyond S.T.A.R.S. intervention, by helping transfer knowledge, strategies and recommendations into the child's family, kinship, foster, school and community environments.
S.T.A.R.S. held it’s 1st Annual Golf Charity Classic August 6, 2026 at West Hills Golf Course in Fredericton, New Brunswick.
